Hey, There!
I’m Tamela.

My ultimate desire is to impact the lives of others with love, encouragement, and intention—building community and sharing the hope, understanding, and peace of Jesus Christ.

You should also know that I’m pretty funny (if I can say so myself! LOL). I genuinely love to laugh, joke, and create joy in everyday moments. I’m a full-time homeschool mom of six beautiful children, and I value openness and authenticity—letting my guard down to connect deeply and overcome whatever may be holding us back.

I’m a philanthropist, and giving is truly part of who I am. I’m also a certified life coach with a bachelor’s degree in English. I love cooking and consider myself a true foodie, and I take pride in being highly organized—some might even say a bit particular about it, from my junk drawer to my refrigerator.

When I’m not organizing our home or teaching my children, I enjoy being a loving wife to my husband, Demario Davis, an NFL player for the New York Jets, while continuously creating a peaceful, purposeful home for my family.

My motto

“Life is simple, but it’s not easy. Maximize your purpose, not your potential!”

More about my story in conversation.

Why did I embark on this path of blogging and sharing with the world?

My journey into blogging and sharing with the world began in childhood. I’ve always loved reading and writing in my journal, and when I couldn’t openly express my emotions, I found comfort in pen and paper. For as long as I can remember, I’ve had a desire to write—whether through books, blogs, or short stories. At the core of it all is a deep value for transparency, which naturally shapes my writing.

When I’m not expressing my own thoughts through writing, I’m often drawn to inspirational and self-help content—authors who feel like companions on this journey of life.

After years of private journaling and sharing my heart with those closest to me, I felt a strong calling from God to begin an online journal—one that shares my truth (and ultimately His truth) while challenging the lies of this world. My desire is to invite readers into my journey through both high and low moments, always pointing back to the foundation of my life: God.

Ultimately, I hope to offer comfort, peace, understanding, laughter, practical life tools, and encouragement along the way.

What’s my your overall mission?

My overall mission is to empower and educate others to seek Jesus wholeheartedly, identify blind spots, and pursue personal and spiritual growth. I desire to encourage people to love their friends and family unconditionally, practice forgiveness toward themselves and others, and fully embrace life with joy—laughing often, sharing good food, and cultivating meaningful connection.

I also aim to bring honesty and perspective to the idea of the “American Dream,” especially in the spotlight, recognizing that it is not always as picture-perfect as it appears, and that true fulfillment is found in purpose, faith, and authenticity.

What Are my philanthropy passions?

My passions center around empowering and equipping the next generation of leaders through education, ministry, sports, and mentorship. In 2013, my husband, Demario, and I co-founded the Devoted Dreamers Foundation with this mission at the heart of everything we do. Through our work, we’ve launched initiatives that help connect young men and women to the resources, guidance, and opportunities they need to pursue and achieve their biggest dreams.

Another deeply personal passion is raising awareness and support for childhood cancer research and care. In 2020, after our daughter Carly Faith was diagnosed with eye cancer, this cause became especially close to our hearts. Since then, we’ve become even more committed to advocacy, awareness, and funding efforts that support families walking through similar journeys.

My thoughts on ministry and spreading truth:

I believe the Bible is deeply relevant today and that it is essential for Christians to present its truth to the world in a way that inspires a genuine hunger and thirst for Christ. I believe this is best accomplished not only through words, but through a life of obedience—living in a way that reflects the heart and teachings of Jesus.

What are some of my life’s stand-out moments?

  • Graduating college with honors
  • Attending graduate school (where I met my husband)
  • Creating scholarships
  • Co-founding the Devoted Dreamers Foundation
  • Becoming a wife and mom (This has always been the deepest desires of my heart!)
  • Navigating life in the spotlight of the NFL, and not compromising who I am to become who the world says I should be
  • Encountering Jesus and learning about who I am in Christ
  • Living my life with purpose!

What other things do I love to do outside of spending time with my family and cooking?

Outside of spending time with my family and cooking, I enjoy surfing the internet (like anyone else!), reading blogs and self-help books, attending conferences, meeting new people, organizing and completing domestic tasks (yes, no joke), hosting people and events in my home, and visiting Target and coffee shops—my happy places.

Where are my hometown roots?

If we go all the way back, I’m originally from Walnut Grove, Mississippi—a small town where everyone truly knows everyone.

Where does my family currently reside?

Well, believe it or not, there isn’t just one answer to that question! For our family, “home” is currently split between a few meaningful places.

We are originally from Mississippi, where our roots run deep and where we still return to host camps and programs through our foundation.

During football season, you’ll find us in the New York/New Jersey area, where my husband, Demario Davis, plays linebacker for the New York Jets (#56). This season of life has been a meaningful return to the region where we spent many formative years, and it continues to be a special chapter for our family.

We also remain deeply connected to New Orleans, Louisiana, where we spent several impactful years and continue to be in and out of as we “finish the great marathon” of that season of our lives—staying connected to the community, people, and places that are very dear to us.

In the offseason, you’ll often find us in Nashville, Tennessee, where we are currently laying down deeper roots and preparing to settle long-term once football comes to an end.

Each place holds a unique piece of our story, and together they’ve shaped the life and journey we’re grateful to live.
