Hey, There!
I’m Tamela.

My ultimate desire is to impact the lives of others with great love, encouragement and intention, build community, and share the hope, understanding and peace of Jesus Christ.

You should also know that I’m pretty funny (if I can say so myself! Lol). One of my favorite things to do is laugh and joke around. I’m a full-time homeschool mom of four beautiful children. I’m willing to let my guard down for the sake of connecting and overcoming whatever’s holding us back.

I’m a philanthropist, so giving in my nature. I’m a certified Life Coach and have a bachelor’s degree in English. Cooking and being a total foodie makes me happy!! I’m Queen Organizer, from my junk drawer to my fridge. If you ask my family, they’d say I’m a bit OCD inside the house. When I’m not organizing the house or teaching the kids, I’m enjoying being a loving wife to my hubby Demario Davis, NFL Saints player, and continuously creating a peaceful, purposeful home for my family.

My motto

“Life is simple, but it’s not easy. Maximize your purpose, not your potential!”

More about my story in conversation.

Why did I embark on this path of blogging and sharing with the world?

Growing up, I loved reading and writing in my journal. When I couldn’t boldly share my emotions, I would always find comfort in my pen and paper. For as long as I can remember, I’ve desired to write (whether books, blogs, or short stories). To be transparent is what’s truly at the core of my desire — and in turn, at the core of my writing. When I can’t share my own emotions via writing, I love indulging in inspirational, self-help articles with authors who feel like my very own soul-partners on this journey of life.

After years of writing in my personal journal and even sharing my thoughts with those closest to me, I felt a tug in my heart from God to start an online journal to share my truths (His truths) with others and expose the lies of this world! I want readers (you) to journey with me through extremely high moments and extremely low moments, knowing that God is the center of it all. I’m here to help provide comfort, peace, understanding, laughs, life skills, and more.

What’s my your overall mission?

To empower and educate followers to seek Jesus wholeheartedly, identify blind spots and seek growth, love friends & family unconditionally, forgive themselves and others, love life, laugh often, cook good food, and understand that living the “American Dream” in the spotlight is not always roses and candy.

What Are my philanthropy passions?

In 2018, my husband Demario and I co-founded the Devoted Dreamers Foundation (https://www.devoteddreamers.org), where we focus on equipping the next generation of leaders through education, ministry, sports and mentorship. Since, our team has created a number of initiatives aimed at connecting the young men and women of the future to the resources needed to make their biggest dreams a reality. In 2020, after my daughter, Carly Faith, was diagnosed with cancer in her eye, we became very passionate about bringing more awareness and funding this.

My thoughts on ministry and spreading truth:

I believe the Bible is extremely relevant today and that it’s essential for Christians to re-present it to the world in a way that will encourage them to become hungry and thirsty for Christ. We can accomplish this by walking in obedience.

What are some of my life’s stand-out moments?

  • Graduating college with honors
  • Attending graduate school (where I met my husband)
  • Creating scholarships
  • Co-founding the Devoted Dreamers Foundation
  • Becoming a wife and mom (This has always been the deepest desires of my heart!)
  • Navigating life in the spotlight of the NFL, and not compromising who I am to become who the world says I should be
  • Encountering Jesus and learning about who I am in Christ
  • Living my life with purpose!

What other things do I love to do outside of spending time with my family and cooking?

I love to surf the net (as everyone else), read blogs and self-help books, attend conferences, meet new people, organize and finish domestic tasks (yes, no joke), host people and events at my home, and of course, visit Target and coffee shops (my happy places)!

Where are my hometown roots?

If we take it way back, I’m originally from the small (very small) town of Walnut Grove, Mississippi — a town so small, everybody literally knows everybody!

Where do My family and I reside now?

Well, believe it or not, there’s no one answer to that question! For us, “home” is split between three places. At times, you can find us in Mississippi, which is not only our home state but also where we run the headquarters of our foundation.

During football season, you’ll currently catch us in the vibrant city of New Orleans, LA, where my husband Demario Davis plays as a linebacker for the Saints (#56). We love our temporary stays here! The ‘Big Easy’ fits our love for flavorful cuisine and festive experiences.

That’s not it! Many times you may see us around Nashville, Tennessee, the city we’ve decided to fully settle in to raise our family once football is over.
